I chose the name Creaky Joints Running because, as my daughter likes to say, I’m a “lady mommy” now and running and training ain’t what it used to be, folks. I’m not exactly “rage, raging against the dying of the light” Dylan Thomas style. I’m not there yet. But, you know, it’s no joke hitting the mid-thirties after taking my sweet time arriving at adulthood.
I live outside of Boston, MA in my hometown with my awesome husband and two small children. I am an attorney specializing in intellectual property, but before you get all “well isn’t that special” on me, I should tell you that I work for an education non-profit and spend most of my time reminding people to include the © on their web pages.
I like running and all things outdoorsy. I have a long history of anxiety and depression, and my running story weaves right through that. So that’s my blog, in a nut shell.
Here are some authors that do a better job than me at expressing their passion for running and the running life:
Poverty Creek Journal by Thomas Gardner
What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Marukami
My Year of Running Dangerously by Tom Foreman
OH, Almost forgot! My banner photo: I took that. It’s the road to my in-laws’ house in Montana. That’s right, I married a Montanan. And we live here, outside of Boston. I’m like, “Are you sure you don’t want to raise kids in BIG SKY COUNTRY?” I mean, I got to ask him that in all sincerity. He got all lost-puppy on me and said, “… But what about the Red Sox?”
So I found a keeper. And we’re not going anywhere.
